Benefits
The primary benefit of WWCIC membership
is help with identifying, locating and resolving radio frequency
interference problems. Membership dues help support this web site and other
activities. The monthly meetings are held on the second
Tuesday of each month at 9:30 am. and include refreshments of
coffee and donuts. Meeting places vary so check this web site for
the location of the next meeting.
Some of the benefits of these
meetings are as follows:
- Meeting and networking with peers
- Concentrated lobbying efforts
concerning items of interest to the group
- Direct access to the local FCC representatives
- Access to radio site and system
owners and managers
- Annual meeting with Canadian Radio
Spectrum Users
- Affiliation with other professional
organizations such as the local chapters of the
Association of Public Safety Communications (APCO), the
Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) and the North
Pacific Marine Radio Council (NPMRC).
Some of the past and present
issues that WWCIC has acted upon:
- Responsible for the 100 mile
spacing between certain sites used by SMR and Government
800 MHz radio users.
- Helped radio broadcast stations in
the Seattle area work with Metro Transit to eliminate or
reduce electrical noise generated by electric buses that
interfered with radio reception in vehicles.
- Instrumental in establishing
meetings at the local level between the FCC and IC
(Industry Canada).
- Established an annual meeting
between users of the radio spectrum in Western Washington
and British Columbia.
- Established radio site standards
which are used by most radio site managers in Washington
State as minimum criteria for all users at radio sites. Standards.
- Provide an avenue of direct access
and feedback to the local office of the FCC in regards to
current or impending federal government actions.
