OLD BUSINESS
Interference
from Nextel.
Sam Samuelson/City of Bellingham reported that Nextel IX problems at St.
Joseph’s hospital area had been reduced with the up tilting of the Nextel
antennas. Jerry Noe / Wiztronics of
Bellingham agreed the problem is significantly reduced.
Tamara Berstein/SERS reported that a City of Tacoma meeting was held
about changing to 800MHz service and that Nextel and Motorola participated. (OPEN)
Suggested
Amendments to Constitution and Bylaws.
Since Rich Tiedeman will no longer be attending the meetings, it was
decided to review his previously-submitted draft at the January meeting. (OPEN)
Unsolicited
Faxes to WA EMD.
Washington State Dept. of Emergency Services is still getting unwanted faxes.
Kris McGowan said she would contact FCC/ HQ about the matter.

Nomination
of Member at Large. WWCIC Member-at-Large position is open since Rich
Tiedeman has had a job change and is not able to participate at this time.
Selection at next meeting is anticipated.

Microradio
Broadcast.
Steve Safarik/Seattle Microradio requested that he be addressed as
microradio broadcaster or unlicensed broadcast station operator.

Awards Ceremony.
George Bisso
was given a plaque with Certificate of Thanks for his efforts with the WWCIC
over the years. It was motioned, seconded and passed to have WWCIC send a letter
extolling George’s efforts and accomplishments to George’s boss, Mark Kay,
at Sandusky Radio. (CLOSED)
Cougar
Mountain.
George Bisso/ Sandusky Radio announced that the noise level at Cougar Mtn
site has been significantly reduced. All
tenants are required to use a minimum of a 3-port and, in
some cases, 6 or 8 port band
pass filters on their equipment. George
Bisso is writing up a report on actions and findings.
He will share information with WWCIC, FCC and others for future
reference. It will be posted on the WWCIC website.
Washington
State.
The 700 Mhz spectrum planning meeting was held last month by Washington
State officials last month. Clark
Palmer, Wash. State Patrol, was elected Chairperson and Kevin Kearns was elected
co-chair. The next meeting will be
in January.
Dept
of Natural Resources.
Wayne Hardy reported that up to 4 million birds are killed by towers across the
country. Painting/red lights
issues attract the birds. It may
become an environmental issue in the future.

Dennis Anderson reported on the following FCC issues.

Enforcement.
Public Law 106-521, signed 11/22/2000, authorizes state and local
enforcement of FCC CB radio rules.

Violations/Forfeitures/Contributions.

Four paging
system licensees, $5,000 each, for operating after expiration of license.

A Radio
Service Corporation, $5000, for operating paging system with authorization.
·
A Small
Business Development Association, $10,000, and a Communications Company,
$12,000, for unauthorized construction and operation of business radio
transmitters.

A Marketing
Company, $1,107,500, for sending unsolicited advertisements to fax machines.
·
A Long
Distance Company, $750,000, for slamming.

Auctions.
800 MHz SMR auction raised $28,978,385.
4)
Spectrum
Reallocations.
FCC proposes to allocate a total of 27 megahertz from 216-220, 1390-1395,
1427-1432, 1432-1435, 1670-1675, and 2385-2390 MHz bands for new wireless
services.
The
meeting adjourned at 11:30 with a big “Thanks” to Shirley for coordinating
the great breakfast buffet
arrangements at the Double Tree.
