FINANCIAL REPORT

Checking Account Balance: $3,834.87

OLD BUSINESS

800 MHz Cross Border Interference. Spencer reported the current status of the ongoing interference between King County and Victoria Mobile Radio. Proposed channel moves and changes recommended by Industry Canada are still being researched and tested.

WWCIC/WCTC Meeting. The 1998 meeting will be on June 17 at Hazelmere. George encouraged members to attend.

Loss of KLSY-FM Coverage. George is working with legal representatives in Washington DC to resolve the problem KLSY has experienced due to alleged improper placement of a Canadian broadcast antenna.

NEW BUSINESS

Public Safety. There was discussion on the status of public safety in the eyes of Federal regulators. Is the perception more political rather than technically correct? The subject of auctions, licensing "by purchase", and the fact that 800 channels have been licensed to the max were also discussed.

Washington State Items of Interest. Pat Buller read a letter concerning per-minute costs for internet access. Check www.fcc.gov/bureaus/common_carrier/factsheets/ispfact

PCS. There are no toll charges. People have begun to use PCS more and wireline phones less.

FCC Items of Interest. There hasn't been a lot of guidance yet from the new Chairman--still in a honeymoon period.

WWCIC Role. Attendees disucssed the role that WWCIC plays in the resolution of local and cross country interference problems and the possibiltiy of establishing a rapport with a Canadian counterpart to WWCIC. Can WWCIC of of service in studying and making a universal recommendation? A conference call will be set up to discuss these issues and set protocols.

The meeting adjourned at 11:45.

Secretary/Treasurer
